CAT 340 Art Therapy Lit and Symbolism

This course will explore theories and models for understanding symbolism, metaphor, and artistic language across cultures and within diverse communities. Students will recognize the need for awareness of and sensitivity to cultural elements which may impact a client's participation, choice of materials, and creation of imagery. Historical and present-day topics in the media, literature, and film will be analyzed s a source of ethical development, pathological, and theoretical insight.
