ECON 104 Survey of Economics
This course provides students with a broad overview of the fundamental terms and concepts of micro and macroeconomics. The field of economics is divided into two sub-fields: Microeconomics and Macroeconomics. This class is a combination of both areas of economics. Microeconomics topics include: supply and demand, the economics of public sector, and firm behavior. Macroeconomics topics include: national income accounting, gross domestic product, unemployment, inflation, fiscal policy, monetary policy, international trade, international finance, money creation, and the banking system. By the end of this class, students will be able to define and explain the basic micro and macroeconomics concepts with both verbal arguments and graphical tools and use them to critically examine economic issues.
