Withdrawals

Withdrawal from Courses

A student who officially withdraws from a course by the last day of class, as specified in the Academic Calendar shall receive a grade of “W”. Deadline for course withdrawals are:

 • Friday of the 15th week of class for 16-week classes.

• Friday of the 7th week of class for 8-week classes.

• Friday of the 5th week of class for 6-week classes.

The grade of “W” is not computed into the student’s grade point average (GPA).
To withdraw from a course, students must follow the procedure outlined on the Registrar’s website.

To credit will be awarded for the withdrawn course and a student’s academic progress toward their degree may be negatively impacted.

Students who withdraw from a course after the official Drop/Add period specified each term in the Academic Calendar may be responsible for some or all of the tuition associated with the course.
Students receiving financial aid may be required to repay a portion of their financial aid in some cases.
A student who does not officially withdraw from a course by the specific deadline shall receive the computed course grade for the work submitted, which may be the grade of “F.” If a grade is awarded for the course, it will be computed into the student’s grade point average (GPA).

Withdrawal from University

Students who find it necessary to withdraw from university during the course of a semester or summer term must complete the official withdrawal procedure. The necessary forms may be obtained from the Enrollment Services Center. Students who leave WLU without officially withdrawing will receive failing grades (“FI”) in all courses for which they are enrolled. The final grade in each course will be determined by each instructor in accordance with the institutional grading policy. Students cannot drop a course after the last regularly scheduled class meeting. Courses cannot be dropped once final exams begin. Students withdrawing from a course or courses are responsible for any costs owed the university based on refund policies.
