MATH 205 Foundations of Data Science

The objective of this course is for students to develop a fundamental understanding of the data science process and the technical skills necessary to work as a modern data scientist. Students will be introduced to the core data science tasks: problem definition, data acquisition, data preparation, exploratory data analysis, data modeling, machine learning, model evaluation, and communication of results. Students will develop a thorough working knowledge of contemporary data science techniques and code libraries that are used for data mining, data preparation, and exploratory data analysis.
