Withdrawal from Courses

A student who officially withdraws from a course by Friday of Week # 7 for 8-week courses or Friday of Week #15 for 16-week courses the last day of classes as specified in the Academic Calendar shall receive a grade of “W”

A grade of “W” is given if a students withdraws from a course after the official Drop/Add period specified in each term in the Academic Calendar and may be responsible for some or all of the tuition associated with the course, providing he or she is passing the course at the time of the add/drop period.

A student who does not officially withdraw from a course shall receive a grade of “F,” indicating failure because of improper withdrawal. A grade of “F” is computed as “F” for grade point average.

Students can drop courses in WINS until the last date to add/enroll for the term. After that date, the instructor will need to email the Registrar’s Office to officially drop a student from class. The official drop date will be listed on the academic calendar.

Withdrawal from University

Students who find it necessary to withdraw from the university during the course of a semester or summer term must complete a cancellation of registration form on the Registrar's webpage.

Students who leave WLU without officially withdrawing will receive failing grades in all courses for which they are enrolled.

The final grade in each course will be determined by each instructor in accordance with the institutional grading policy.

Students cannot drop a course after the last regularly scheduled class meeting. Courses cannot be dropped once final exams begin.

Students withdrawing from a course or courses are responsible for any costs owed the university based on refund policies.
