PSYC 317 Asylums and Early Mental Health Treatment

Students will learn about the history of mental illness, the development of asylums in the late 18th century, the development of “moral treatment," experimental treatments, ethical dilemmas, public perception of asylums and treatment, the shift to de-institutionalization, and legacies of early mental health treatment and the lessons learned.
