SOC SOC 440 Sociological Theory

Acquaints the student with the major theoretical tools used by sociologists to understand the historical and sociocultural forces that shape the individual and society. The course addresses theory construction as well as the major works and theories of Marx, Durkheim, Weber and Mead with attention to more recent developments in Functionalism, Conflict Theory, Symbolic Internationalism and Exchange Theory.  Prerequisite: SOC 150 and Junior standing required and ENG 101 and 102.
