Biology: Life Sciences (B.S.)

The Bachelor of Science, Biology, Life Sciences major provides an option for students in the final year of study (90 or more earned credit hours) not meeting the graduation requirements of the standard majors in biology (general biology, pre-professional biology, ecology, evolution, and organismal biology, environmental stewardship and education, human biology, DEAP, pre-veterinary biology, pre-osteopathic/pre-medicine biology, microbiology, and zoo sciences and applied conservation biology). The major will provide a route to graduation for these students that might otherwise not be available and allow them to continue into the workforce with a four-year accredited university degree.

Restrictions

The Bachelor of Science, Biology, Life Sciences major is restricted to students with 90 or more earned credit hours toward a degree in the biology program with permission of the Department Chair.

At least 60 credit hours of additional coursework in biology (at the major's level), chemistry, physics (PHYS 101/110 and/or PHYS 102/111), and/or math must be completed successfully. A G.P.A. of 2.0 is required in all biology, chemistry, math, and physics courses counting toward the major, with no grade lower than a "C".

Students must take general electives to reach the 120 credit hours required for the Biology of Science degree at West Liberty University.
