Nursing: BA/BS to BSN (B.S.)

Admission Process

  1. Applicants to the BA/BS to BSN program must first apply to WLU and indicate they are applying to this program. Next, complete the application for nursing that is on the program website. Applicants who apply by February 1 will be given priority. 
  2. The second-degree program student applicants will be selected by the Academic Standards Committee of the Nursing Program based on the following criteria:
    1. Baccalaureate degree from an accredited college or university.
    2. Overall grade point average of at least a 3.0 on 4-point system.
    3. Completion of the following prerequisite courses: General Psychology, Developmental Psychology, Chemistry, Anatomy and Physiology I and II, Microbiology, and Statistics with a grade of “C” or higher.
    4. Personal essay related to how this program will help the student reach goals.
    5. Short resume.
  3. Students must also have a background check with “unremarkable” findings and a drug screen with “clean” results (from a specified vendor).

The WV Board of Examiners for Registered Professional Nurses has the right to deny a license to practice registered professional nursing to persons who abuse alcohol and/or drugs, have been convicted of some felonies, or engaged in other improper activities as stated in the WV code.
