This course is an in-depth introduction to the history, roles, functions, and relationships of mental health counselors. Students will explore the aspects of mental health counseling in clinical and/or community-based practice. Students will be able to describe in-depth experiences with specific client populations, practice settings, and methods of interventions. They will display cultural competence in consideration of unique characteristics of specific populations and settings. Course content is set in the context of the ACA and AMHCA Codes of Ethics.
