The course will review the knowledge and skills necessary for telehealth practice. Students will become familiar with the ethical and legal requirements for distance counseling including HIPAA guidelines and emergency protocols. They will learn about how to set up an effective online office, to maximize visual and audio stimuli in counseling sessions, and how to manage the beginning elements of a professional, digital therapeutic presence. Course content is set in the context of the ACA and AMHCA Codes of Ethics on telehealth counseling.
