EP 480 Professional Foundations in Exercise Physiology
This one-credit hour course introduces students to the professional, ethical, and legal foundations necessary for a successful career in exercise physiology and related health sciences. Students will explore diverse career pathways within the field, examine the roles and responsibilities of exercise professionals, and develop essential skills for effective communication and professional conduct. The course provides foundational training in HIPAA and OSHA standards to ensure compliance with healthcare privacy and workplace safety regulations. Students will also analyze legal and ethical issues relevant to clinical and fitness environments and gain insight into the importance of professional organizations in advancing the field. Through reflection, discussion, and applied projects, students will build a clear understanding of their professional identity and career trajectory.
