Childcare Director Certificate
The Childcare Director Certificate is designed to address a critical need area in the state of West Virginia. Based on the WV DHHR requirements for childcare tiering (i.e., determining child capacity), childcare directors must have a minimum of 12 credits in child development and early childhood education. In assigning tiers to childcare centers, the WV Division of Health and Human Resources also gives preference to directors who hold a background in business.
The Childcare Director certificate is designed for first-time college students, students currently enrolled in an undergraduate program at West Liberty University, and students already holding a Bachelor’s degree. The coursework includes 12 credits in child development and early childhood education and 9 credits in business. This 21-credit certificate is designed with remote, evening, and online asynchronous course options to allow professionals who are already working full-time at childcare centers or in related professions to enroll and complete the certificate within a reasonable timeframe.
