The Bachelor of Science degree in Biology, Pre-Pharmacy 3+4 major provides an accelerated (7 years of study versus 8 years of study) option for students intending to pursue a Doctorate in Pharmacy degree at select institutions with which WLU holds a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU). Students following this major will complete a series of courses that meets the prerequisites for the specific pharmacy program and fulfills the general education requirements at WLU plus the majority of a major in biology. Upon entering a pharmacy program with which WLU holds a MOU and successfully completing the first year of study, WLU will accept credits (seventeen/17) from the doctoral program and the student will receive the Bachelor of Science degree in Biology from WLU. If a student opts to stay and complete a full course of study at WLU prior to enrolling in a pharmacy program or decides to pursue a different avenue of biomedical study, they may switch to any of the biomedically-based biology majors and graduate with a 4-year degree. A career in pharmacy often provides a flexible schedule and a variety of job opportunities including retail pharmacy, clinical pharmacy, and research and development. To be eligible for early admission, students must maintain a cumulative 3.5 G.P.A. in all math and science courses with at least a grade of "C" in each course within the program.
