NUR 422 Applied Scholarship
This course focuses on the implementation and completion of the quality-improvement (QI) project introduced in the Nursing Discipline Development course. Students will apply the final phases of the AHRQ Plan-Do-Study-Act (PDSA) model to carry out evidence-based practice changes within their clinical or organizational settings, evaluate outcomes, and assess the impact on patient care and workflow processes. Emphasis is placed on practical data collection methods, teamwork and communication with stakeholders, ethical and regulatory considerations, and alignment with institutional policies and professional nursing standards. Students will develop professional presentation and writing skills through structured reports and oral presentations of their projects to classmates, preparing them to communicate improvement efforts to leadership and interprofessional teams in real-world healthcare environments.
