NUR 424 Advanced Application of Pediatric Life Support

This course prepares students for the advanced assessment and management of pediatric cardiac and respiratory emergencies across infancy, childhood, and adolescence. Learners will integrate pediatric-specific electrocardiographic interpretation, weight-based pharmacologic calculations, airway and ventilation strategies, vascular access techniques, and family-centered resuscitation principles through high-fidelity simulation experiences. Emphasis is placed on clinical judgment, leadership in pediatric code situations, developmental and ethical considerations, and the application of current evidence-based resuscitation guidelines. Upon successful completion of the course, students will be eligible to test for the Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) certification.
