Music Technology (B.M.)

The Bachelor of Music Degree at West Liberty University is approved by the National Association of Schools of Music as an accredited degree program. Bachelor of Music degrees are considered by NASM to be "professional" degree programs and therefore require 65% music content. Students in the BM in Music Technology degree program will be able to continue their education at the master's level and/or find employment in the music industry. The program includes the following: audio recording, audio engineering, electronic music production, electronic music performance, and live sound.

Ensemble Requirements - 4 credits

Students in the Bachelor of Music degree, Music Technology Concentration, are required to take at least one credit of Musical Organizations (ensembles and/or choirs) for at least four semesters.

Applied Lesson Requirements - 8 credits

Students in the Bachelor of Music degree, Music Technology Concentration, are required to take two credits of Applied Music Lessons for at least four semesters. Students must achieve Internal Level 6 in order to graduate. Internal Levels are based on a student's progress through Applied Lessons as determined by their Private Instructor and a "Jury" of Music Faculty. See the Music Student Handbook for details.

Electives - to total 120 credits

Students must take additional courses to reach 120 total credits in order to graduate. Any courses, including repeatable Ensembles and Applied Lessons, may count as electives.
